My hair is growing back! My eyelashes are coming back, too! But... at the moment, Charlotte has a lot more hair than I do! She went to the doctor today. The doctor said Charlotte is putting on weight. We are happy with that! Thanks, Mum and Dad.
You spent countless hours by my side, holding my hand and helping me beat my cancer. You cleaned me up and supported me. You held your breath in all the meetings and stayed strong when the news was bad. You fought for me - and probably saved my hearing. You stayed strong when I was strugling after surgery. You checked my temperature and changed my diet. You let me sleep in the big bed - even when I was toxic. You kept my central line cords clean and dry and took me to have my blood tested every week. You lost sleep and you worried. You dropped everything to hold me tight - and you never let go. You loved me. You were strong for me. I love you and I'm going to make you so proud of me. Yesterday was a good day! We got a new double pram with a special seat for me... Charlotte has started putting on weight AND I got the official all clear from the CT scan! 8 months ago, my cancer tumour levels were 126,000. For someone my age, these numbers should be under 8. Today, we found out that, after 6 rounds of chemo and my surgery, they are 5! Today is a happy day in our house! I got great blood results today, so now I just need the all clear from my CT scan, which I will have on Thursday. If that's good, I should be able to get my central line out soonish. That means I can go swimming again! I was being cheeky all afternoon and have spent lots of time learning to roll over and hold my head up. I like being with Charlotte, too. She is being good and learning to feed better. I'm bored with Charlotte already! All she does is sleep, so the cricket is much more interesting! She came home today, but she just needs to make sure she keeps feeding ok, otherwise she might have to go back to hospital and no one wants that! Charlotte's blood sugar levels have gotten better. She is feeding a little more, so she is out of the Neonatal Intensive Care Unit and back with Mum, for now. She is a mini Me! We look just like our Dad, Andrew. Except, Charlotte has Mum's nose! So in true baby Heff style... 24 hours after being born, we had a trip back to the neonatal intensive care unit! She hasn't been feeding and so her blood sugar dropped. She's now being monitored and I'm back to expressing... On the positive, it shouldn't be a 4 month stay like Dexter and all the nicu nurses greeted us like old friends! |
