She took this video this afternoon.
The same time, 12 months ago, I was about to finish my surgery. My cancerous tumour had been removed, half of my liver was gone, and I was being stitched up again. That was last year!
This year, I walked about 190m towards the beach!
What a difference 12 months can make!
When we were begging for votes back in July, so I could win the $5000 Sunsuper Dreams contest and buy a walker, we dared imagine I might be able to walk to the beach by Christmas... It just seemed so far!
And yet, this afternoon... I got really, really close! The sound of the traffic confused me a little and I was a bit wary. I managed the bumpy driveways and even coped with the road. There is a little rise when you cross roads and that made me think for a little while, but I worked it out!
Mum was going to take me on the slide at the park near the beach, but I was exhausted.
She put me on the bottom of the slide, but I fell asleep. She carried me and my walker home, and I dozed on her shoulder, a big smile on my face.
I fell asleep as soon as I lay down and Mum massaged my legs after my bath.
I will probably be very sore tomorrow, but today was a great day!
