What is Convoy? Each year, the Illawarra has a Truck Convoy. The streets are jammed with motorbikes and cars for one day in November, each year. People line the streets in the same shirts... this year's shirt colour is red. People cheer and atruck horns are blasted. Then, people follow the trucks to a local sports field and listen to bands and enjoy the incredible atmosphere of a community coming together. The convoy is a fundraiser, with funds going to Camp Quality. Last year, the convoy raised over one million dollars! Can you find Dexter's name on last year's People's Truck? The Trucking Company which makes the largest donation, gets to lead the Truck Convoy. Last year, the People's Truck was the fourth truck. If enough people get behind the People's Truck this year, it could be the lead truck! Help out! Join in! Get your name on the truck. Get your business name and logo on the truck! Become a 'Dexter's Mate'. Email us at: [email protected] | What is the People's Truck? The People's Truck is owned by McMahons Transport. They offer the truck to the people of the Illawarra, so we can all be involved in convoy. For a $20 donation, you too can have your name written on the People's Truck. Your money goes to Camp Quality and you get a receipt for your tax. As the People's Truck rolls down the mountain and through the streets, people cheer... it is 'their truck', after all! Dexter is 2. He's been to two convoys. Last year, Dexter was undergoing chemotherapy treatments for his liver cancer. He posed in front of the People's Truck - but ended up in hospital that night. |
