He removed the cancerous section of my liver.
He sewed me back up again, and the scar is so neat and clean. I've even had nurses guess my surgeon, just because of the neatness of the scar!
My recovery was pretty bad. This was when we confirmed that I was allergic to fentanyl (a strong pain medication) and that it stopped me from breathing. We don't go near it, now!
Back then, four years ago, my stomach was a mess and we spent some time in the ICU... but, my surgeon told Mum and Dad that he got all of the cancer! It was a bad recovery time, but knowing the cancer was gone... that was so amazing!
I still had another two rounds of chemotherapy, once I recovered from my surgery, just in case.
After Mum and Dad spent the day waiting for me to come out of surgery... after a sleepless and stressful night the night before and a whole lot of exhaustion, Mum and Dad had a conversation with another parent.
She asked Mum and Dad whether I would always be a vegetable.
Twice!
Twice she asked whether I would always be vegetable... and, Mum and Dad just walked away. (No! I will always have cerebral palsy, but I'm no vegetable!)
We'd forgotten that... Some things are best forgotten!
To everyone else: My scar is beautiful! It's light and white. Sometimes, it just looks like a roll of skin. Sometimes, we don't even notice it.
And, even better, my oncologists are still saying I am cancer clear!
