We'd made it!
This was something worth celebrating!
And so, Mum made a million billion cupcakes and decorated them with coloured jelly crystals. She made them in to a rainbow. (We always look for the silver linings and have used rainbow colours for all of our fundraisers and charity events.)
Mum and Dad invited lots of friends and family.
They decorated the back yard of the unit we were living in and they set out to celebrate my birthday.
I wasn't hungry and I was a bit cranky and grumpy.
Mum and Dad were a bit worried about me.
But... it was my birthday. So, they celebrated.
What none of us realised, was that my cancer was big enough that it was starting to cause me pain and discomfort. It hadn't been found yet. But it was there.
