It was the 8th annual Music Makers' concert and I was back on stage.
My Noisy Sisters were sleeping over at my cousin's house. I was a bit sad, because I wanted to sleep there, too...
But, then... Mum told me that it was dancing night!
I was so excited!
As soon as I heard the audience noise and I hear Melissa...
I knew I was about to have fun!
This was my fourth concert.
Mum and I had been watching videos, to learn the dance steps.
(Mum even watched some of them, backstage, just before we went on stage. She wanted to get the steps right!)
Backstage, I got ready. I wore my upsee. It has a vest, which holds me against Mum's hips. It has double foot plates; Mum's shoes are strapped into in and my shoes are strapped in, next to hers. When she lifted her leg, my leg was lifted, too.
I was so excited to start!
I loved it!!
Between the Music Makers' acts, other support acts took to the stage. They were amazing, too. While they were on stage, I changed into the next costume and Mum had a chance to sit down, without having to support my weight. I was supposed to be resting, but I was too excited.
I kept trying to stand up! I wanted to get back out on stage!
After the first couple of songs, I managed to shake Mum's hands off. She was holding my hands and helping my arms move in the right ways. But, I wanted to do it all by myself. I was waving my hands and holding my head so high.
I was so proud.
I was so happy.
Melissa is helped by her aunt, Nicole, who does the choreography. Nicole dances at the back, which makes Mum very happy. Mum's eyes were on Nicole, all the time!
Melissa has a big family and friend support team, who all help behind the scenes. It's amazing to watch them all working together and creating something so wonderful.
We loved watching the beautiful and talented Liv singing. She was a bit nervous and we tried to distract her while she was backstage. Melissa took care of her and then, Live started singing. She was amazing and I can't wait to hear her sing again. Then, Liv's amazing sister got up and danced across the stage. She's wonderful! Their mum also took to the stage, with another Zumba session. She always brings lots of energy and fun! Mum and I were doing the zumba, too... just off stage. I loved it! Thanks for always supporting the Music Makers!
My body is aching, but my heart is smiling! I am so proud of how well Dexter did last night with his amazing Music Maker friends.
Eight dances!
And, he wanted to stand between each one and kept pushing my hands away so he could do his own moves!
Melissa and Nicole are awesome for letting us be part of their special night and for not laughing (too much) at my uncoordinated state!
Thanks to the people who came out and watched and cheered everyone on!
Thanks to Carol for helping Dexter and I back stage!
Now to get my back fixed....!
I couldn't have danced without her.
Thank you, Mum!
Thank you for believing in me. Thank you for being so brave. Thank you for making sure I have opportunities to feel such incredible pride.
I love you.
