It's fun! We can't wait to see the colours!
Ron wanted to do this, to help Dexter, financially. Cerebral palsy is pretty expensive. Therapies are expensive. Equipment is expensive (especially when your cerebral palsy is severe and you need additional support pieces).
So, Ron is helping Dexter.
He wanted to raise $2000.
(It's not too late to help)
Dexter is not receiving any NDIS funding. More on that later.
Today, there's only $908 on his fundriasing page. We have another $100, which was handed to us, privately. That's $1080. It's only half way.
We're so grateful to Ron and so proud of the real mateship Ron and Dexter have.
Having a male therapist is very important, for Dexter.
He loves being in the water and their half hour of swimming is filled with noisy chats, splashing and kicking. The water supports Dexter and helps his stricken body feel a little freer. He kicking develops muscles and putting his head under water has taught him how to close his mouth while water is on his face. This is a life-saving skill. Sometimes, Dexter can aspirate. This is when he swallows liquids or food into his lungs. With Dexter, this leads to pneumonia and hospitalisation. Teaching him to close his mouth makes showering and swimming with him much safer.
We'll share some photos of the hair colouring tonight.
Big thank you to Shellharbour Swim Academy and all the wonderful staff.
Big thank you to Belinda's Hair Creations in Belambi, for taking the time to colour Ron's hair. They also donated a raffle prize. Thank you.
And, thank you to Ron.
We love him.
