My Own Walker
I trialed my first walker in May 2013.
I took my first independent steps! Zoe, my physiotherapist was there, to help buckle me in and to teach Mum and Dad how to put me in the walker, to adjust it and to take me out of it. This was an incredible day for us! Some people thought I would never be able to do this. This video is me, in May. My first steps! |

In August, a wonderful man bought me a $4000 walker! This was such an amazing day.
Knowing the walker is there, and we can use it every day is just fantastic! Some days, I make no progress in my walker. These are sad and frustrating days. Some days, I really go for it. These are happy and hopeful days. (Read about the day I got my own walker here.) |
My Beach Dash video was recorded in October 2013. Some days, I love my walker and I don't want to stop. I have learned that I can do a funny little hop and then kick off with two feet, which makes my walker really go. I love doing that! I have learned there are hills in places where the path seems flat and I have learned to cross bumpy driveways and rough roads. Read about my Beach Dash here. |

Again, my surgeries severely impacted on my strength and stamina. We were told the femoral osteotomy set me back 18 months, in my physical development.
With some cold, rainy weather, we were unable to use the footpath for walking. So, we ripped up the old carpet, and lay down some temporary lino flooring. Now, I can use my walker inside, when the weather is too hot, cold or rainy.
