Pokky came for a surprise visit!
It has been so much fun having him here. I had big cuddles in bed with him this morning! I'll miss him when he goes home. Dad has always been a huge fan of the Manly Warringah Sea Eagles. A huge fan. And guess what... The Sea Eagles are ambassadors for the Cerebral Palsy Alliance. I've got cerebral palsy! The Manly Sea Eagles also support Layne Beachley's 'Aim for the Stars' foundation, Bear Cottage, the Northern Beaches Lifeline, Royal Far West (supporting country kids) and Stewart House. And recently, they wore blue for autism awareness. We think that makes them pretty awesome. One of the Manly Sea Eagles players is involved with something pretty special. David "The Wolfman" Williams hosts children with special needs or illnesses at each of the Manly Sea Eagles' home games. These kids are known as "Wolfies Howlers" and they sit in the front row of the dugout, right next to the players' enclosure! And, there's an opportunity for them to have a photo with David "The Wolfman" Williams on the field, after the game! Life with me and my cerebral palsy is really hard. I'm a patient, cheeky, happy kid... but it's hard on Mum and Dad. We sent an email, asking whether we could be Wolfies Howlers for a day. We didn't think we would hear back... But, guess what! The next day, we got a lovely email.... they said yes! The next time the Manly Sea Eagles play a football game, we'll be there, watching them. I'm going to be a "Wolfies Howler"! I don't have my words yet, so I might not howl, but I will love the energy and excitement of the game. We can't wait! We'll post photos, for sure! We want to give the Manly Sea Eagles and David "The Wolfman" Williams a shout out. Offering this experience to families like ours is a lovely gesture, and this is something we have been looking forward to. Thank you!

Check out my swimming skills! I did so good at the pool, today. It was much easier for Mum to hold me, with my new hydrotherapy gear. Pokky was watching me today, so I did extra special kicking. He was proud of me. I love the water so much! I even fell asleep on the way home and stayed asleep! #hydrotherapy #swimming #cerebralpalsy #goDexter #love
Because I'm a little bit different to most kids,
it's sometimes hard for people to know what I want or need. Mum knows me pretty well and so, finds it easy to leave notes when people look after me. I can't use my words yet, so mums notes are my voice. Today, I helped her write a note for Daddy. I hope he does number 4! Chocolate! And, if I have chocolate, I won't have to sleep! Maybe that's why I have to go to the pool... to work off all that chocolate energy! (And, to use my new hydrotherapy gear.) We recently lost access to our hydrotherapy equipment, so Mum bought me some of my own. After she ordered this, she spoke to Zoe, my physiotherapist. Mum got me the exact same things that Zoe bought, and they bought them on the same day! So now... We have lots of equipment. It looks like I will be doing lots of hydrotherapy now! Meet Zoe Visit my Relay for Life page Return to Home page Return to Blog See my Wish List Mum and Dad went to the Easter Show. They always said I was named after the tv show... but it looks like they named me after a cow! Apparently, its one of the smallest in Australia! Dexter Cattle
Dexter cattle, orginally came from Ireland and have a long history with records dating from the 18th century. The Dexter breed of cattle were first introduced into Australia in the 1880's and in more recent years have seen many more see the benefits of this small dual purpose (meat and milk) breed. They are the smallest naturally occurring cattle of the British breeds, they are not miniatures. Often the Dexter is used to minature other 'mini' breeds. The ideal height for cows ranges from 97cm to 107cm and bulls 102cm to 112cm. Most Dexter cattle are wholly black in colour and on occassion can also be red and dun (brown). The breed is naturally horned, with polled cattle having been introduced as part of grading and selection of the breed. Many Dexter breeders remove the horns of calves (debud) when they are a couple of weeks of age, which gives them a polled look. From the Dexter Cattle Australia website. Read more here. I ended up getting over 40! I was so lucky and so spoilt with all my friends sending me mail. I just wanted to let you all know that the PO Box has now been closed, but that I loved getting my letters. Dad doesn't use the PO Box anymore, and we thought we would be better spending the money on things I need. It was so much fun, getting the letters, postcards and presents. Thank you so much everyone! Big sloppy kisses. xx What a fun day we had! I spent the day with my Uncle Colin and Aunty Joan. (Technically, they are my great uncle and aunty, but I'm not allowed to say that because that makes them sound old!) They are members of the PT Cruisers Downunder (NSW Inc) car club. All the members have been raising money for me over the last 6 months or so... even though I had never met any of them! They drove their cars from all over the place and parked in Kiama for a bbq and a catch up. Some of the guys let me sit in their car and pretend to drive it! I even got a club shirt, with my name on it! It was so much fun! Thank you! Most of these photos came to us via Colin. Every dollar given to Dexter is spent on Dexter.
