Love.
And, Dexter seems to be filled with it. We love him so, so, so much.
CP Challenge - If you know a family who are doing it tough, reach out today and send them a little love. It could be as simple as a nice message. It could be flowers or a delivery of coffee. Let them know you are there.
If they are a parent or carer of someone with a disability, they might not have the time to spend with you, but your thoughtfulness will bring them happiness.
Life as a special needs family is hard.
It can be very lonely and isolating, because people cannot truly understand what you are going through. No one has the time or energy to constantly hear someone talk about their struggles, and for people with cerebral palsy, there are always struggles. So, often, mums and dads of children with cerebral palsy are left feeling lonely, isolated, scared and helpless.
Usually, they have been fighting and holding on to every piece of strength they can muster, for years, so reaching out and asking for support and friendship is too difficult for them.
And, they know their life is complicated and complex, so forming new friendships is difficult.
They might look tough and intimidating. They might seem rushed and frantic (and, they probably are!). But, inside, they are just like the rest of us; desperate to fit in and feel loved.
So, today, reach out to a 'special needs' family and bring a little sunshine into their lives. And, show some care for their kids.
