Many people with cerebral palsy have a vision impairment.
Sometimes, the vision impairment can be corrected with glasses.
Some people with cerebral palsy may have cortical vision impairment. Dexter has this. In this case, the eyes work perfectly. However, the messages from the eyes and the brain gets confused, due to the brain damage that caused the cerebral palsy.
People who have cortical vision impairment may have moments when they can see well. They also have moments when they may not be able to focus or see. It is important that we do not say 'Dexter can't see', as this may confuse his understanding of his own vision.
If you don't need glasses, try this:
Smear your sunglasses with some cream, so it makes everything look blurry and out of focus.
Try to do some of your daily jobs.
Wash the dishes, hang out some clothes, butter some toast...
