March is Cerebral Palsy Awareness Month. Each March, we post daily challenges on Dexter's Instagram account @lovedexter3. We hope to help people understand a little more about the challenges Dexter faces. We can never really understand how he feels and how much he determination, resilience and patience he has to show, every day, because of his CP.
CP is our daily life.
It gives us loads of challenges and is completely heartbreaking at times.
But, we don’t let CP stop us.
Because of CP, we have met some amazing people and we have done some amazing things.
To all our friends who see Dexter, we say thank you. To all our friends who include him and speak to him, we say thank you.
To all Dexter’s friends - you’re amazing.
To our friends with CP, celebrate this month!
I still can't jump out of my bed and run to hers, but I can call out (really loudly!) and make her come to me.
I can put my arms around her and hug her now - if she is close to my head and helps me a little.
I can say 'Mum' and she knows I want to say 'I love you!'.
I can do these things because of her - because she never gives up.
Because she fights with such determination for me.
Because she makes sure I have access to amazing therapists.
She's pretty amazing.
We sand the song for her, today... The one that ends with cake!
I can't say the words 'Happy birthday!', but she knows I love her.
Australian Museum. These teeth are from the Megalodon - it’s pretty big!
This was our Class K23H photo! Our new teacher did ok, it’ll be ok having her again tomorrow!
Our casual teacher has already submitted her forms for annual leave and long service leave - they were rejected, so she asked for sick leave and was very disappointed when it was also rejected.
She has only been doing the job for two days after all!
She colour matched to my skin tone.
The things I do, because I love her!
This certainly was a tornado of bubbles! The bubbles even went inside the house - because our teacher forgot to close the door to the staffroom!
