Someone we have never met stumbled across Dexter on twitter. We're not sure how he found Dexter.
He fell in love with Dexter's story - and set out on a mission... a mission to have everyone follow Dexter on twitter. He tweeted and tweeted and tweeted and told so many people to read Dexter's story and, it worked.
Suddenly, lots more people found us!
Lots of people wanted to learn more about Dexter.
This man tweeted so many times about Dexter, he was put in twitter jail!
(His account was suspended!)
And then, we posted on twitter about the Dexter's Mates idea...
raising money for The People's Truck and Camp Quality.
Another twitter friend jumped on the idea, and suddenly,
lots of people were helping us spread the word about the Dexter's Mates.
Emails started flooding in and people starting donating money to have their name written on the People's Truck as Dexter's Mates.
So far, we have over 85 names for the People's Truck.
We have two business names and, several people gave donations,
but didn't want their name on the Truck.
People all over Australia are learning about the People's Truck and the Dexter's Mates idea. Now, we have Dexter's Mates from every Australian state and territory, except Tasmania. We even have Mates from America!
Sometimes, social media is simply amazing in its ability to share information
with a lot of people... and very quickly.
The man who started the campaign to get us lots of Dexter's Mates
also has a tie to auction...
The money raised will go to The People's Truck.
It's a pretty special tie... there are only 4 like it in the world.
It's an election tie, a Vote 1 Tony Abbot tie... and,
Tony Abbott is going to sign it before it's auctioned!
And, this afternoon, Melissa Doyle retweeted someone's tweet about the Dexter's Mates idea!
So exciting!
