I had a great walking day. I started right down the other end of the house.
This walking business is fun!
**Not every day is a great walking day. Since his surgery, Dexter has one leg two centimetres shorter than the other. He needs to wear one of two pairs of shoes - with a wedge to even his leg height.
Now, his leg is starting to turn in, again. This makes it difficult for him to bear weight on the leg. This impacts on his ability to take steps.
Some days, Dexter doesn't seem to be able to lift his legs, or push off enough to make his walker move forward. Some days are heartbreaking.
Some days, Dexter almost runs in his walker and we feel incredible hope and happiness.
We have a goal for Dexter - we want him to walk down to the beach park, like he did three years ago (before his surgeries). We want him to do it by Christmas, this year.
Dexter's always been an incredibly determined little kid and he is working really hard to achieve this goal.
