It wasn't one of those nice massages...
the ones with relaxing music and the beautiful smells.
It wasn't a gentle, calming massage...
it was a therapeutic massage.
Mum's been having these massages for a bit over a year now.
She started out having the massages every fortnight,
but the massage therapist said Mum needed to have a massage every week.
Mum has these massages because of me.
Having to lift me and support me all day, Mum has damaged her back.
(And her knee and her foot!)
Most kids my age are walking around and don't need to be carried.
Mum's lucky.
A very good and very wise friend told Mum
she had to go to the massage therapist.
Mum felt a bit weird about going at first, and didn't want to.
She didn't think she needed therapeutic massages, and I guess,
she felt as though she was being 'weak' having the massages.
A year later, she knows this is something she needs.
Mum hasn't sworn on the therapist's table... yet!
She does get bruises, though.... lots of them.
And, she has clenched her fist and her jaw
and often chants to herself: "Don't kick her! Don't kick her!"
as the therapist works on her back.
The massages hurt.
a lot....
But, it would be a lot worse if Mum couldn't have these massages.
Every time Mum has a massage, she hopes the therapist will be pleased
and say Mum's back is good...
It never happens!
Today was Mum's therapy day again - she had therapy on her back.
We want to thank Sharon, for helping Mum...
and, for the bruises, I suppose!
I had terrible reflux as a baby.
When I was two years old, my reflux was still really bad
and I was always being sick with it.
Sharon started Bowen Therapy on me.
She spent a few minutes on me, every time Mum had a massage.
We're not sure whether I suddenly grew out of the reflux,
or whether Sharon's Bowen Therapy did it, but my reflux went away!
That was a wonderful day!
Now, I usually get a quick five minute massage from Sharon
when Mum gets her massage.
I haven't had one for a while, because of my leg casts.
Sharon never charges us for my massages...
Thank you, Sharon!
so we will post one here when they're done)
