The Doing it for Dexter crew are meeting on Thursday. Lorenzo, from Smiths and Sons Renovations & Extensions in Shellharbour, will be there, and has created a list of everything we will need. Thank you!
Rob and Bianca, from Coastal Windows and Doors will join us. Rob and Bianca have been a huge strength for this project, and Bianca has been giving us a lot of support. Thank you!
Melissa will also join us, too. She's been the main organiser.
We'll be calling our Tradie Mates, in the days after the meeting. We'll be checking to see whether our Tradie Mates are still keen to join us. We'll check what materials and supplies we've got, and what we need to get.
Once we have a start date, we'll let you know.
We'll be moving Dexter and his family out of the house, while the renovations are happening. Lenice and Andrew had this idea thrown on them, and find the support being offered to Dexter, very overwhelming. They are humbled and very grateful. Thank you.
We're still hoping to keep the interior of the house a secret from them, so everyone can get together and celebrate the Grand Reveal. That day is still a long way off, but it's coming! Just know, Lenice and Andrew will most likely cry, when they see the house, and Dexter will do his best to win the hearts of everyone. He's just that kind of kid.
Dexter's latest cancer check scans showed something unexpected, but his oncologists went back and saw the same shadowing on an earlier scan, so they are not concerned, for now. He is now two years cancer clear.
He is gaining much more strength, since his surgery, and is starting to take one or two steps in his walker. The surgery has made one of his legs two centimetres shorter than the other, so this is causing some problems with weight bearing, and we are modifying his standing frame and his shoes. His determination remains his biggest strength. We were told the surgery would set him back 18 months in his development. Cerebral palsy is hard.
Dexter's at preschool twice a week this year. We're so lucky, because he is with such an inclusive, supportive group of adults and children. They work with him on his vision and his occupational therapy.
Happy Sunday, everyone.
And Tradie Mates, we'll call you soon!
