Cerebral Palsy

Picture
I was born nine weeks early, and spent four months in hospital, before finally coming home. My doctors found my brain damage when I was a month old.
When I turned one year old, my brain damage was diagnosed
as Cerebral Palsy (distonic quadriplegia, level five).
I have a mobility walker, a standing frame, a toilet, a new chair and a beach wheelchair, which I love! I do therapy with Mum every day and a private therapist comes to our house about once a fortnight. She's great! I had surgery on my hip, twice, and I got a new bed.
I am going to show everyone!  I'm going to do everything! I am so determined!

My Vision Impairment

Picture
I have a vision impairment.  It is from my brain damage.  My eyes work just fine, but they don't always get the messages from my brain.
Some days are good seeing days and other days, I can't see much at all.
We know I can see some colours - red, yellow, blue, orange, pink and we're working on training my eyes to 'see'.
In 2016, I've been trialling some eyegaze technology - where I operate an Ipad with my eyes!
Check out how long and gorgeous my eye lashes are!

Cancer

Picture
In 2012, my doctors told me I had cancer.  Liver cancer.  I started my first round of chemotherapy in July.  I had six rounds of chemotherapy. I had to spend 4 days a month with toxic medicine flowing into my body.  After that, I was toxic for a week and Mum and Dad had to be careful with my body fluids. My tumour was cut out, once the doctors thought it had shrunk enough.
In Sydney, Mum and Dad took turns sleeping in the Ronald McDonald House.
