It was Dad's day to stay with me today and not much sleep was had! Today, I had my first solid food in 10 days, accompanied by vomit of course! My surgeon confirmed all went well with my surgery, but I'm likely to need another 2 rounds of chemo, starting in November.
A lot happened to me today! My oxygen prongs (They are still on me in this shot!), catheter, drain and intravenous drugs are all gone today! I managed to drink 3 lots of milk today and, mostly kept it down. I even gave a few smiles! A lovely Thursday volunteer from the chemo ward came and found me today! She has missed me and told my Mum how much she thinks of me. She was so happy to see me today. She wanted to run away with me, but Mum said "No"! She's been a ward nanny for 13 years! Watch out everyone... Your cheeky boy is coming back, slowly but surely! It's 3am and Dexter keeps setting off his heart rate monitor when he gets into a deep sleep! The cheeky little boy did it last night too, and as such, has the doctors stumped! Waiting days now.... I had some milk and only threw up a little bit, so that's a start! It seems Dexter's blood is coming back ok, so now we just need those pee bugs to go! Today, Dexter spent the day with his dad, grandma and grandad. Apparently, a police penguin came by, but got scared off by his crying! Get better quickly, Darlin'. Another day... The days are numbering up. They are starting to drag along. Our Little Man is still in his isolation room. He spent the day with his Dad today. He still has his oxygen prongs - though still doesn't like them. Tests are still being run and results are still to come. So far, there is no big change in our Little Man. I'll update this when I get new information.
This is how the nurses found him most of the night! He decided he didn't need any help breathing, even though he still does when he is asleep! He never liked wearing oxygen prongs and keeps pulling them out. His green (feeding) tube is gone and Dexter had his first taste of fluids in a week! He drank 20mls of juice, which he then threw up, but its a start. His pee has now been sent away to test for fungus - delightful! Last night was my first night in my new room. It was Mum and I in there. Dad was in Ronny Mac's House, but he will sleep in my room tonight. Mum got a fold out bed and was hoping for a pretty good night's sleep, but... I woke up at 1am and played for 2hours. I thought that was pretty funny.
They still have the oxygen prongs sticking in my nostrils... but, I managed to pull them out last night. A nurse must have put them back in when I was asleep, because they were in again when I woke up this morning. My catheter should be working again today. And, if the nurses remember, I might be allowed to have some fluids to drink today! I've not had any food or drink in my mouth for a week! It'll be nice when I can swap the drips and lipids for real food and drink! Dexter has just been moved onto a ward, but ... into an isolation room! It seems he may be harvesting a contagious bug, but won't know for a couple of days! (This may delay our homecoming for at least a week!) He has been sleeping most of the day, but when he is awake, he is playing with his cords and bile tube - of course! Dexter is still in the ICU this morning. There is a good chance he will be moved today. He is still getting some temperatures and has decided he no longer needs to sleep - day or night!
Dexter is still waiting! His catheter was removed this morning - with bugs in it! It was re-placed this afternoon, because he wouldn't wee -180mls later and we had a happier boy! Dexter is still in some pain, so he had another x-ray - to see what's happening and why there is so much mucus. we are still in the CICU, but we may possibly move to a ward tonight. Today, Dexter gave his mum a smile... until he remembered he was cranky at her! |
