But, there were moments when the rain let up and the kids could be taken out from under cover, to enjoy the trucks.
Even with the rain, Convoy was incredible.
The feeling you get, as the first police car, with flashing lights, rolls past and the roar of motorbikes fills your ears...
The feeling you get, as the bikes pass, in their hundreds.... riders dressed up and waving, soaking and freezing...
The feeling you get when you hear the very first horn blast, as the trucks approach...
And then, the feeling you get when the Camp Quality Convoy bus comes into vision.... The feeling you get as you wave your sign at your friends in the Camp Quality bus and they hold their hands to their face with love...
The feeling you get, when Derek drives up and the People's Truck flashes its lights, blasts its horn and draws nearer.
The feeling you get, when Nicole is leaning out of the People's Truck's window, reaching for you, with tears in her eyes...
The feeling you get, when your new friends wave and cheer as they drive their trucks past you, horns blaring and arms waving.
The feeling you get, when Lenny drives his ABC People's truck (all the way from Townsville) and gives you a thumbs up sign, as you wave and scream and cheer in the rain...
The feeling you get, from each and every tight hug....
Convoy...
The feelings can't be explained... they have to be felt. It is truly an incredibly amazing day. It's overwhelming and emotional and heart-warming. It's a day when the little things no longer matter, and love flows everywhere - freely.
We have so many photos. Here are some of them:

Mack! with Aaron and Christie. While it rained, we hid Dexter under the People's Truck - which is fitting. We hid him from the sun under the truck last year! Having fun, hanging out with the People's Truck and Lenny. Can't believe they climbed on the ABC People's Truck! Sorry, Lenny! Later this week, we will know just how much money the 2013 i98FM Camp Quality convoy raised. We'll let you know. Next year will be the 10th convoy - if you want to plan your trip! 2nd Sunday in November! |
