Head to the shops, work, or somewhere where you will be seen by a lot of people.
Wear something to catch their eye; a crazy hat, weird face make up, clown hair…
The idea is to have people looking at you.
Don’t explain yourself, but look to see whether people are noticing you.
Did you get any backward glances?
Often, people with cerebral palsy will be stared at, anywhere they go.
Some people with cerebral palsy will walk with a limp. (Some people with cerebral palsy don't have a limp.) Some will use walkers and others will be in wheelchairs.
Sometimes, the glance is curiosity and just a quick glance.
Sometimes, it is a long, long, long stare.
Some days, you can dismiss these stares, the whispers and pointing fingers.
Some days, they break your heart and make you want to rage.
We always appreciate a smile.
