It's time for my surgery.
I'll be sleeping at Ronny Mac's. (Ronald McDonald House)
(If you ate a Big Mac on McHappy Day, or you have helped out the Ronald McDonald House Charity, thank you!)
We booked in to Ronny Mac's a few weeks ago.
Being able to stay at Ronny Mac's is wonderful. We don't have to worry about parking. We don't have to drive 'home' each night... we just walk. We can cook some pasta for dinner and still go back to the hospital for a few hours before bed.
Tomorrow night, Mum, Dad and I will sleep at Ronny Mac's.
I hardly ever get to sleep in the House!
My sister and my Aunty Carol are looking after each other at home,
and I'm a little bit worried about the mischief they will get in to!
After the first night, once I'm in the hospital, either Mum or Dad will sleep in the hospital chair by my bed and the other one will sleep in the House.
(Unless I get sent to the ICU and sleep there overnight...
when I'm in the ICU, no one is allowed to stay overnight with me.)
Just because we know it's for the best, doesn't make it easier.
I've had a much worse, much scarier operation before. The surgery to remove my cancerous tumour took five and a half hours... this one should be much better.
Still, I know that when Mum kisses me and tells me she loves me and then lets Dad carry me in to the room to be prepped for surgery, she will cry.
Then Dad will kiss me too, and he will have to leave me with the surgery team.
And then, they'll sit and worry about me. And watch the clock.
Hopefully, I'll come out of surgery, breathing on my own. Hopefully, I will not be given the pain medication I am allergic to. (I stop breathing with it!)
And, hopefully, we will be in hospital for less than a week.
Hopefully, it'll be 'text book' surgery and recovery.
To read more about the surgery,
what it is and about my recovery time, read this post.
So, this hospital visit, we are having a competition.
If you can make Mum and Dad laugh, you might win a prize.
(It's a good prize, too! It's a photo of me and a little letter from me in the mail!)
You can send them a joke or a funny puzzle, via facebook, twitter or as a comment on this blog post. You can post a funny picture or send them a fun challenge they can do beside my bed in the hospital.
(Don't send them in the mail, because they won't be home to get them!)
If you're on facebook, that's where most of the fun will be.
If my twitter friends post jokes, we will share them on facebook.
The daily winner will be the person who makes Mum and Dad laugh the most.
We'll let you know each day who the winner was.
We'll also keep you updated on my progress while I'm in hospital.
We hope you will play along.
**We don't want prayers. You can pray for me, but do it quietly.
"Laughter is the best medicine".
Thanks and sloppy kisses xxx
