We have been ok, but it did go to areas close to our town.
The NSW Rural Fire Service have done such a great job at protecting houses and, more importantly, lives.
We saw some beautiful signs on the roadside - thanking the firefighters for the incredible work they have done since the fires started.
The roads to many areas on the south coast of NSW have been closed, which has been especially hard given this time of year is their big tourist time.
The area has (mostly) now been declared safe to visit and they are encouraging people to go and support local the businesses.
Today, we drove to Sussex Inlet - a beautiful township on the river that had been completely cut off because of the fires. We explored the scenery and enjoyed a coffee at Jopen Cafe, Sussex Inlet. We were told that normally, they would have had full tables and people lined up out of the door, but unfortunately, they only had a couple of tables occupied.
It was beautiful to talk to the beautiful ladies - but it was so sad to hear how tough they have been doing to.
Electricity is back on and roads are open. It’s safe.
If you have the chance, go and have a coffee or a sandwich or buy a trinket from a local shop that has been affected by the fires.
Every little bit counts.
Show them that we are with them.
