My Brace is Off!

This happened today!!!
My brace came off! It was on for the whole summer holidays but it is finally gone!
My surgeon is very happy with how it all went.
I was so happy and chatted all the way home from Sydney.
I’ve had a swim and a shower!!!
It was so good to be back in the water!

The X-ray picture shows the difference between my hips from pre surgery and today - I’ve got a lot of hardware in my body again!

I did really well with my pain. I wasn’t upset until after dinner. Moving me caused me some pain and I found it hard to settle. I was upset for a while, but Mum and Dad looked after me.
Nanoo and Pokky looked after my sisters last night and they have them again tonight. They would hate to see me crying.
I’m in bed, settling with some pain medication and some music.
After dinner, this happened... a proper hug!

Back to School! 2019

Back to school!
I was so excited, I stayed up late, chatting about it! Because I’m still in my brace, I didn’t stay all day, but it was good meeting my new classmates and being back with my awesome teachers!
I went home when sitting in my wheelchair got too sore and painful for me.
I won’t be there tomorrow - it’s surgeon meeting day!
Just one more sleep!
(Oh, and Mum is on the countdown now for kindy 2020!)

Learning to Hold Hands

One thing I’ve learnt to do these holidays is to really reach out and hold on to whoever is with me.
(My cerebral palsy made that difficult for me, but I can hold hands now!)
It’s such a nice feeling.

I’ve always loved touch!
And I know it makes everyone happy when I do it!

🎉 Only two more sleeps until I see my surgeon - and, I go back to school tomorrow!!! 🎉

Hiking to the Waterfall

Some people might question why mum and dad go to gym - they aren’t exactly skinny!
But, they don’t go to be skinny, they go for me, they go to be strong!
Today they showed how strong they have gotten.

They pushed me up to the top of the Minnamurra Rainforest waterfall walk!

Even though the signs said it wasn’t advisable to take wheelchairs and even though they got loads of looks from other walkers, and even though it was super hot and humid, they kept going.
They took it in turns and even shared the pushing a few times, but they did it!
They got me to the top!

They were very sweaty and stinky, but, it was awesome!
My littlest sister made it about half way and then went back down with grandad. My noisy sister made it the whole way, without being carried! They are going to be so strong too!

Mum and Dad really are amazing.

What a fun adventure we had.

Dexter's Doing the Scarborough Hotel KidzWish Bridge2Bridge Challenge - 2019

This year, we are participating in The Scarborough Hotel KidzWish Bridge2Bridge Challenge.
It will be on the 17th of February, 2019.
We are participating in the final leg of the walk.
Here's some information from the KidzWish Foundation's website:

The Scarborough Hotel KidzWish Bridge2Bridge challenge is a 40+km event.
The challenge is to get from Sea Cliff Bridge to Windang Bridge or just do part of the course - take your pick!
We have 7 different sections to cater for people of all abilities.
Cost includes a Bridge2Bridge singlet and a donation to KidzWish.
The cost is $50. Kids under 13 are free.

We'd love everyone to take part and help us raise much-needed funds so we don't mind where you kick start your challenge. This year will be the seventh year with the previous events raising over $30,000 to help KidzWish.
Support, love and laughter changes everything!
We have free bus transport during designated times.
Our vision is to help Illawarra & South Coast children who are sick, disadvantaged or have a disability and their families so they’ll never walk alone. With your support we can help them with Support Programs, Love Programs & Laughter Programs.
100% of profits from this event will help fund these KidzWish Programs.
Join us at our family fun day at Club Windang from 2pm. We have organised children's entertainment, a jumping castle and a BBQ for lunch.

Time: 7am - 4pm

KidzWish is a local charity who help lots of kids, including me!
Because of KidzWish, I have a new mobility walker.
Because of KidzWish, I have an eyegaze system, which helps me to communicate.
And, because of KidzWish, I can play wheelchair basketball every week!

Each year, KidzWish invite me to their Christmas party at the WIN Entertainment Centre. It's such a cool day!

The people at KidzWish believe in me and they support us.
So, we are going to walk the last leg of The Scarborough Hotel KidzWish Bridge2Bridge Challenge. We will walk from Harvey Norman Warrawong to Windang Bridge. It's about five kilometres. It's flat and we end up at a beautiful waterway. We leave Warrawong at 3pm.

Tooth Fairy

I lost another tooth!
🦷🦷🦷

Mum was brushing my teeth and noticed it was loose, so she got dad to finish brushing my teeth.
Mum hates anything to do with loose teeth!
🦷🦷🦷
.
It fell out straight away!
Dad had to hold my head still so mum could scoop the tooth from the back of my mouth!
I’ve now lost 8 teeth, but we’ve only ever found 2!
I swallowed the rest!

Blue Sushies!

Blue slushies!

The best thing to cool me down on a hot afternoon while my sister does her swimming lesson.

I’ll be back in the water with my Ron (my swimming therapist) next week!

Sydney Wildlife Park

We went to Sydney the other day and visited the Sydney Wildlife Park.

We got lucky and met the big saltwater crocodile up close! 🐊🐊🐊
Dad pushed my wheelchair into the viewing circle just as the big crocodile swam over! It was so big!
We saw Riley the Koala from @hellokoalas and we saw a big spider!

My Furry Friend

I love this dog!
We are friends. He doesn’t care about my disabilities.
We lay on the ground and held hands for the longest time...
... until Mum tried to get a photo...
... then he kept smiling for the camera!
