What a fun time!
That always makes me feel better.
"Very grateful for John at WestonPrint Kiama
who donated his time and services to print the flyers for our concert fundraising event. Thank you!!" (We will post a photo of the flyers, when we see one.) I'm not feeling well today...
I kept Mum and Dad up most of the night and Mum even thought about taking me to hospital! But, the doctor gave me the all clear... I just have another cold! Mum made me a light box, it needs a bit of work, but I like it! D for Dexter! We met a lady today. She was talking to Dad when she saw me.
She asked Dad if I had CP. It's the first time someone has been able to ask specifically if I have cerebral palsy. She explained her son also has CP, the same type as me. She gave Mum and Dad lots of ideas for when we will need to renovate our house for me - to make it better suited to me and my cerebral palsy needs. She also said that we could visit and use the swimming pool they built for her boy! She was very nice and made us all feel comfortable. Sometimes, it's nice to meet someone who knows exactly how it feels and exactly what our life is like. I love my sister. I loved her before I even met her. She's starting to be a lot of fun now. She's chatty and cheeky. She smiles and laughs. She's sitting up and reaching for toys. She likes thinking she can stand up and walk, but really, she just hops and bounces! She spits and blows raspberries and she pinches. She screams and yells and throws tantrums, but I love her. Who wouldn't love her?
I'm two now... and people can see that I am not the same as most kids. I'm not running around the house, screaming and exploring. I wish I was. But, I'm smart. I understand and I remember. My sister loves me. She loved me right from the moment we met. It's like she knows... I need a little more. It's like she knows... I'm different. She just... understands. Our hope is that everyone can love us 'the same'.
We're both great kids - who get in trouble sometimes... And, Mum and Dad are expecting we will get into lots of mischief together! But, we're both great kids... And we hope that everyone will love us both... the same... ...even though I might not interact the same way ...even though you have to try harder to get a response from me ...even though I have cerebral palsy. A n I n s p i r a t i o n f o r P e a c e F u n d r a i s i n g P e a c e C o n c e r t On the 31st August, at the Wollongong Town Hall, we are holding a peace fundraising concert to inspire Peace in our hearts and raise funds for one courageous little boy, Dexter Heffernan, and support two amazing community groups - The Disability Trust - Music Makers Program and the Peace Angels Global Transformation Company.
The Disability Trust - |
The Disability Trust - Sport and Recreation Services provide opportunities for people of all ages with a disability to participate in and enjoy physical and creative activities. They now have a new program called The Music Makers, which specialises in teaching those with a disability dance, voice and performance technique that allows this amazing talented group of performers to perform throughout the year. Over the past 4 years this has been a volunteer program run by Melissa Tierney. |
The Peace Angels Global Transformational Company are a not for profit community group that help to inspire the awakening of Love, Peace, Joy and Hope in our lives through performance, educational programs, community support programs and meditations. The Peace Angels are committed to reminding us we are not alone. All the Peace Angels volunteer their time and run their programs either via donation or as service.
