I met some people today. Some of them know my Dad and Mum, but none of them had met me, and most of the people didn't know any of us. We met the trainers and members from One Fitness 24/7 this afternoon. They did the ice bucket challenge, and they raised money for me! This amazing group of people saw my wish list, and guess what they want me to buy with the money? My very own beach wheelchair!!!! How exciting is that! I live very close to the beach, but I have never been on it. I love the water, and I love going to the river. We drive there. It's nice and calm, so it is easy for Mum and Dad to take me swimming there. My little sister has walked to the beach... she has played on the sand and eaten shells and rocks. But, we have not ever been there, as a family. Going there with me, it's just too hard! My pram won't work on the sand, and I would need to be carried... along with towels and toys and hats and drinks and sunscreen. Once there, I would be lying on a sandy towel, and getting sand in my face and mouth. It's always just been easier to stay at home. And so, my sister has had to miss out on the beach, too. And, that's not fair. But now!! When I get my own beach wheelchair, I will be able to go to the beach with everyone else. We will be able to go for a walk and it will be much easier. The beach buggy wheelchair will be an incredible thing for us to have, and we will love it! It will also mean Mum and Dad can walk along the beach and get some exercise! We are so overwhelmed with this generosity! What amazingly lovely and generous people. Thank you so very much. Xx Here's what One Fitness 24/7 said: We're very excited to say that we have managed to raise $4,270 for Dexter, which is enough to purchase him a beach buggy wheel chair so he can go to the beach. Awesome effort everyone and bring on summer for this little guy with his new wheels! |
and the buckets of ice were brought out.
The challengers sat in a circle, with their feet in a bucket of ice and their 'tipping buddy' behind them.
Everyone else gathered around... and we held our breaths as the first bucket of ice was tipped! There were cheers and screams.
I met some new friends, today. When Nicole crouched down, to have a photo taken with me, I turned my head... I found her cheek and I gave her a kiss. I knew that she had done something very special, for me. We had a long cuddle. I was sucking on her shoulder, too. It was all wet, from the icy water! She's awesome! xxx
No wonder we needed teary cuddles.
but know that our hearts are full of love and thanks, today. xxx
