CP Challenge - Let a toddler feed you spaghetti. (Or, let an adult feed you with their non-dominant hand.)
For many people with cerebral palsy, self-feeding is difficult.
There is a lot to control. You have to hold the fork or spoon and put food onto it. You have to hold the fork or spoon and carry it to your mouth. You have to open your mouth and put the food inside your mouth. You have to remove the fork or spoon... and, do it all again.
Some people with cerebral palsy need a lot of time, so they can feed themselves.
Some people with cerebral palsy might not be able to feed themselves.
We often feel guilty that we do not give Dexter enough opportunities to work on self-feeding. It's a time thing, that stops us.
At the moment, we just don't have the additional time Dexter needs, to feed himself. We hope this is something we can work on, soon, to help Dexter become more independent.
Often, cerebral palsy brings a lot of guilt.
