Convoy is a fun day.
A lot of money is raised. The money is used to support local kids and their families.
Although convoy is fun - with everyone cheering, horns blasting and people smiling, there are a lot of tears on Convoy Day.
Convoy is a very emotional day.
Many of our Convoy memories are fun, but we also have heartbreaking memories.
And this year, we’re heartbroken for Kye.
Kye was my friend. He didn’t care about my disabilities - he saw me. He saw my determination and my cheekiness. He was a friend.
Kye was in my aunt’s class at school, until he died. It was an accident and so many people are sad. Kye was a great kid. He left a big hole in lots of hearts. His family raised so much money for Convoy. They raised $105,000 to be the lead bikes.
They raised $500,000 to lead the trucks.
And, they kept raising money.
This year, Convoy is for Kye.
we went to our usual spot.
I was excited for Convoy to start. The bikes eventually came by and it was fun.
And then, I sobbed.
It was too much.
My heart was full of thoughts of Kye.
I was so sad.
My aunt got me out of my wheelchair. We sat by the side of the road and we cried.
And then, we decided to be happy. We wanted to be happy for Kye - because this was for him.
And so, we wiped away the tears and we cheered on the rest of the bikes.
Soon enough, the trucks came by. We saw Kye’s family. The waves and cheered at us. And we waved and cheered for them and everyone wiped away their tears.
And, we had a sign got another special friend who was in the Convoy.
Kye’s bike is on the back of his truck.
