My cerebral palsy made everything difficult.
I couldn’t run into their room and tell them that Santa had been.
I couldn’t try and sneak a feel of the presents under the tree.
I didn’t show any excitement.
But, Mum and Dad persisted.
They would let me sleep between them on Christmas Eve, when it was just me, and then in my sisters’ room, when they came along.
They would wake me early, and tell me Santa had been and what a mess the reindeer had made!
The last couple of years though, things have changed.
I still can’t run into their room, but I do yell out and wake my sisters early (I still sleep in their room on Christmas Eve; it’s fun!). This year, despite my cast, I made my way to the presents and tried to feel them - until Mum told me I wouldn’t be allowed to open any if I touched them!
I love the smells of Christmas and the food!
I love presents!
I love when everyone is around.
Each Christmas Day, Mum and I sit together and she helps me open my presents. I’m finding ways to do this myself now!
I love Christmas!
