Today, I am four years cancer clear!
The scars are slowly fading.
The fear is still there.
The memories are still strong.
We've come a long way!
When I was diagnosed with hepatoblastoma (liver cancer), my tumour levels were 126,000. For someone my age, they should have been under 8.
Today, four years ago, my numbers were 5!
I needed six rounds of chemtherapy and a couple of surgeries, including the long one, when they cut the tumour from my liver.
I needed countless transfusions and spent many nights in isolation wards.
I had weekly hospital trips, to have blood tests and to clean my central line cords.
I lost my hair and my eyelashes.
But, today, I am four years cancer clear!
Today is a great day.
Here's the celebration photo we took, after we heard the great news. The Noisy Sister was about a week old, being born a bit early, so she could be there to hear the great news, too!
