I was given that 6 years ago, when an awesome surgeon cut out the entire right side of my liver and took away the cancer that had been making me so sick.
Mum and Dad will always be thankful to that surgeon.
There is even a photo of him and I on our photo wall, one of only three non family members on the wall! (He has operated on me 4 out of 7 times!).
My surgery day was a big day for us, with lots of worry and stress, especially because I was in longer than expected.
Mum and Dad were exhausted (both were working back down south and so were taking it in turns to sit in hospital with me all day and sleep by my side and then swap over and leave early in the morning to drive back to work. And, mum was pregnant!).
We are thankful to everyone who supported us during that time.
We will always have these memories, but, my scar is fading and the hurt is healing.
We send love to the families who have gone through this and to those who are currently going through it.
Childhood cancer sucks.
