We hope we've helped you learn a little more about cerebral palsy.
We hope we've helped you understand a little more about Dexter, and our life... living with cerebral palsy.
We want to thank you... Thank you for sticking around, and reading our posts this month. Thank you for supporting us in our goal to raise awareness of cerebral palsy. Thank you for finding and sharing articles about specialised equipment we could benefit from, and positive and inspiring stories on people with cerebral palsy. And, thank you to the people who have found Dexter, and fallen a little in love with this little boy, and joined us on our journey. Thank you for seeing Dexter.... Seeing past the cerebral palsy, and into his cheeky, determined heart. He's a great kid. He's an inspiring kid. He's a determined kid. And cheeky! This kid is cheeky! It just so happens he is stuck in a body stricken by cerebral palsy. |
There will be many, many difficult days ahead. It's not an easy life. It's tiring and sad and frustrating and expensive... but one 'echidna roll' from Dexter, one cheeky little eye movement, one little kiss... and overwhelming love washes over all the hardship. We're so lucky to have Dexter. We will fight for him, to ensure he has every opportunity we can give him. We'd love for him to be in a triathlon, so we'll get him on bikes, and on paddle boards and on surfboards. This little boy will not be left, sitting in a corner. He'll sure have a lot of adventures. |
Thank you to everyone who has ever helped with fundraising.
Thank you to everyone who has spoken to their children, helping them understand that a disability doesn't stop a person from being a friend.
Thank you to everyone who has supported Lenice and Andrew, and to everyone who takes the time to sit down and talk with Dexter, even when he doesn't have the words to reply.
He knows.
He feels the genuine love and respect people have for him, and he loves back -unconditionally.
He knows when people have no expectations of him, and he will refuse to 'perform' for anyone who does not care for him.
Thanks to Zoe, for seeing Dexter's potential and constantly pushing him forwards.
Our hope... We do what we can to ensure Dexter's life is a little easier.
We want a couple of things... For:
People to feel comfortable enough to speak with Dexter, to chat and play.
People to see past the cerebral palsy and see his intelligence and compassion.
Tomorrow, there will be no #raisingawareness post, but Dexter will still have cerebral palsy.
