It was a chunk of his liver... and it was cancerous.
Two years ago today, Dexter had surgery to remove a computer-mouse sized tumour from his liver.
The surgery went well, and a final two rounds of chemotherapy treatments finished off any remaining cancer cells.
Like this time, the recovery didn't go so well.
Today, two years on from that surgery, he is about 21 months cancer clear.
Today, Dexter is recovering from yet another surgical procedure.
Dexter's doing well. It's great having everyone under the same roof, again. When we have to move Dexter, he still has pain, but he is mostly back to his cheeky little self. He's eating again, and smiling. He's on a lot less pain medication now, and it is great seeing him becoming more and more alert.
This is what I looked like 2 years ago today - the right side of my liver was cut out, taking away my tumour. I spent almost a week in the ICU and then a week on the ward - more then double the time I was meant to be there! T
oday I'm much bigger and stronger, but still recovering from surgery!
October isn't such a fun month sometimes!
