It's the day life as we knew it stopped...
It's the day we became numb to so much...
It's the day the neonatologist uttered the words 'brain damage'...
We aren't the same people anymore...
Our worlds collapsed that day. We broke.
The me from eight years ago would not recognise me today...
I am stronger.
I am happier.
I am confident.
It's been a long process.
It's not been easy.
We've lost friends, but gained new ones.
There have been so many heartbreaks.
So many tears.
So many shattered dreams.
Eight years and we can laugh again.
Eight years and we can still be silly.
It's certainly been a ride!
(flashback photo [I'm having hair envy at the moment...] to celebrating the marriage of one of the new friends - one of the ones who truly gets it, who doesn't care that you turn up to her hens with pink hair and then her wedding with teal hair, one of the ones who holds you up when you need it and gives you massive belly laughs when you didn't know you needed it - one of the best we could have asked to meet - you know who you are, we love you!)
Sometimes, it takes a village.
