We were so excited.
This is an incredible day.
About 4300 children with disabilities or illnesses and their carers are invited to an amazing show.
Hundreds of volunteers spend time packing bags and helping out on the day.
Kids are given a flashing light toy, some McDonalds and a Christmas toy.
Santa comes out on stage, to wish everyone a Merry Christmas.
And, it doesn't matter about disabilities... because everyone understands.
Its so cool to see so many wheelchairs... so many kids with disabilities... all together and all smiling and having fun.
And, it's free!
While my sisters do not have a disability, they live a life of severe disabilities. Already, they know they have to include me. Already, they know we might not be able to get to this beach, or that park or that shop, because of me and my wheelchair.
Already, they know that Mum and Dad sometimes have to choose me over them.
Already, they have watched me be driven off in an ambulance and understand what it means when I go to the hospital.
Already, they have seen Mum and Dad cry.
My sisters do not have a disability, but their life is often much harder than it should be.
They have many extra hurdles to jump, because of me and my disabilities.
They will be stared at and talked about, because of me and my disabilities.
But, at the KidzWish Children's Christmas Party, they get to have fun and cheer and laugh and dance. And that is awesome!
Thank you, Kidzwish!

**I missed the 2014 party because I was in hospital.
KidzWish Foundation lends a hand to help Illawarra & South Coast children who are sick, disadvantaged or have a disability. Unlike most charity organisations, which focus on a single program or specific area of concern, KidzWish ensures that children and their families are not forgotten by falling through the gaps. Over the last 12 months alone, over 500 children relied on a KidzWish Program. Additionally, 4,300 children and carers experience the KidzWish Children's Christmas Party each November. As we say at KidzWish - Charity begins at home.
Give them a cheer and tell them Dexter sent you!
