Many people with cerebral palsy have hearing loss.
We are lucky because Dexter has good hearing. (His initial chemotherapy treatment plan was most likely going to cause hearing loss, but after hearing family concerns, his oncologists developed a different plan and his hearing was saved.)
But, one in 25 people with cerebral palsy have a form of hearing loss.
To gain an understanding of this, spend a day with minimal noise.
Wear ear plugs.
Don't speak with people unless you can see their mouth.
Put your phone on silent.
Watch the television with the volume turned off.
Learn sign language.
Technology is amazing and many devices assist people with hearing loss to better interact with the people around them. If someone doesn't not answer you, it may be that they did not hear you. Many people with hearing loss have assistance animals.
